Rabbi Eric Linder and Reverend Craig Topple (aka "Chester" in Spanish-speaking parts of the world) became friends while discussing theology, Bela Fleck, tennis, and shared confusion over why people of faith would support a certain presidential candidate.
What we call "the grit" is really another term for life; it can be dirty, complicated, and exciting. Here in Athens, GA, the Grit is also one of our favorite restaurants, known for its healthy food and warm community.
This double entendre helps us think about our project, God in the Grit. Some conversations we will have: Is religion necessary? Did God really write the Bible/Torah? What do we think about fundamentalism? What is a day in the life of a clergy? What is the place of politics from the pulpit? Are you going to heaven (or hell?) We hope that you join us for our conversations on these and other topics, as we explore God in the Grit.
